BROADSIDES ON THE BUS: June 7 -21, 2013
Moscow, Idaho, home of Broadsided editor Alexandra Teague, has done it again! (The first thing was the B-sided DIY project she an artist Stacy Isenbarger created with their students at the University of Idaho in 2012.)
Something Old, Something New
We made a series of six postcards/trading cards—one for each bus in Moscow. Poster-sized collaborations of poetry and art adorned the transit station. The kickoff party included poetry readings at the bus stops AND a scavenger hunt! Some of the broadsides were from our archives, others were from the DIY project, and two were brand-spanking new.
To make sure that the project was current, local, and original, the Moscow Arts Commission put forth a call for submissions, asking artists to submit work in response to a poem by nationally-acclaimed poet Robert Wrigley, who happens to live in Moscow. The poem, "Spring Is Here," is from his just-released book, Anatomy of Melancholy and Other Poems.
Two local artists's submissions, Kat Clancy and Stacy Isenbarger, were chosen for postcards, posters, and the Broadsided Press July, 2013 collaboration (see right column).
