Collaborators’ Q&A: Poet Kirby Wright: Kara hits the mood of the piece with the young woman at the center contemplating her value and emotions in both a dark and light universe. There’s a haunting quality to the piece, one which captures the essence of my verse and makes the writing more powerful.
Artist Kara Page is a middle school art teacher from the Midwest with roots in the Rocky Mountains. She believes anything can be art—doodles, snow forts, legos, messes—and gives students room to take risks, make mistakes, and get messy. Kirby Michael Wright was born and raised in Hawaii. His family land on Moloka’i served as the breadbasket for Kamehameha’s warriors while training for their assault on Oahu. He is the Feature Writer for the Office of Hawaiian Affairs.
